[/custom_frame_left]You asked for it . . . . and we delivered! JAZZ Under the Stars at ApCal! This will be the first of hopefully many JAZZ concerts at ApCal and we are kicking it off with a doozy! What do you get when you mix the soothing sway of Bossa Nova, and the unmistakeable influence of Jimi Hendrix being played by two seasoned guitarist with over 100 years of combined musical experience between them on the guitar?
Answer — Jazz Xperiement.
Jazz Xperiment is the combined talents of local guitar legend, Jim Hampton and jazz guitarist and composer Randy Freeman. Hampton and Freeman started performing live together over five years ago as an actual experiment to see what sound they would come up with if they combined their diverse musical backgrounds and their mutual high level of accomplishment as guitarists. Their live performances feature a wide eclectic blend of music with energetic improvisation rendering no two performances alike. In 2009 they released a self produced CD entitled, “An Early Clue To A New Direction”, that has been well received by their listeners.
YOUR support of these JAZZ concerts will determine if we carry them into next year. So if you are a JAZZ fan, be at ApCal this Sunday night for a relaxing night of Jazz Under the Stars! Our goal is to revitalize the Jazz music scene in Fresno, give it a weekly home and ultimately bring the Fresno JAZZ Festival back to life!
