Inspired by the “Apothecia”, a mysterious place where wine was blended and stored in 13th century Europe, Apothic Red offers a truly unique wine experience. This is a blend of Zinfandel, Syrah, and Merlot. It’s hardy and strong through the mid-palette with a smooth fruity finish.
Anyone who says Merlot is “just a blending grape”, has pretty limited vision. Merlot’s popularity is hardly recent, having been the sole grape in Chateau Petus only for the last few centuries. Ours is easy drinking, with plummy flavors and a smooth texture.
The Merlot grape, the third most commonly grown wine grape in the world, is one of the most popular for red wines. The name comes from the medieval Occitan word merlot, meaning young blackbird. We have found this wine enjoyable with grilled meats and food prepared with heavy sauces.
